Today we began our day with calendar and snacks. Students created their own pattern t-shirt,
completed worksheets for letter Y and right after that we had our Show & Tell. Our Show & Tell today was very interesting, we had an egg yolk, a yellow Lego, yo-yo, yellow stuffed animal and yogurt to share with everyone (thank you Demiana!).

In the afternoon students attended French class and we played games.

After that students completed language worksheets for letters W and Y.
In Math we continue working on patterns. Today students had different kinds of materials and were asked to make different kinds of patterns by color, shape, size, and position.
Students participated in reading groups and after lunch attended Music and French classes.
Finally, the part of the day that everyone was anxiously waiting for...waffles!!!

Today we began the day with calendar, snacks and stretching exercises with Mr.R.
After that students practiced writing numbers from 1-20 and we had reading groups.
Students also painted their egg cartoon bugs and tomorrow we will add eyes, legs, antenna and wings.
In the afternoon students attended Gym and French classes.
We also worked on patterns, students had to describe simple patterns in front of the class by using snap cubes.
To finish off our day we played musical alphabet.

After that we played pattern games and students helped me to create new patterns on the board by using shape magnets.
In the afternoon students attended Gym class, Music and French classes.

Today we had lots of fun!

In the morning we had convocation in the Gym, students from SK-Gr.8 received their awards for their speeches presentation yesterday.

We found out that KIP is in first place! Go KIP!
When we came back in class we had our morning circle time with Mr. R. and snacks.

After that we made fingerprint bugs and used Q-tips to paint the legs.

Students practice letter sounds by listening to our phonics song and after that we played pattern games.

After lunch students completed language worksheets and attended French class.
To finish off our day students listened to an audio story and played with blocks.

Today we had a very productive day!
We spent part of the morning watching speeches presentations and I must mention that JKs behaved really well.
When students came to class we had snacks and calendar.
After that we played pattern games and completed a couple of worksheets on patterning.
After lunch students completed worksheets for the following letters: V/W/J
This week we are focusing on W. For students that are confident knowing name, sound and formation of W we do worksheets where they have to practice their listening skills by identifying words that begins with W like watch, watermelon or wagon.
Students attended Music and French classes.
After second recess we played some games and had our end of the day circle time.

We started off our day decorating our box for the book drive.

Today we began our day with some house games and the big event was the pancake eating contest. Everyone participated really well and had lots of fun!
After that, students came to class and we completed a couple of phonics's worksheet where students had to look at the letter at the beginning of each row, say the name of each picture and circle the pictures which begin with the consonant sound.
Our letter for this week is W, students will learn name, sound and formation of W.
In Math students completed a worksheet where they had to circle the correct number of objects and we continue with our unit on patterns. Today students created new patterns by using blocks and snap cubes.
As part of our unit of inquiry this week we are learning about bugs. Today we watched a short story of a ladybug and students helped a busy bee find his route by counting 1-24.
To finish off our day we played a game called "Toss the Pancake". Students had to hold a frying pan, toss a bean bag and pass it on.

What a nice day today!
The weather was great and students really enjoyed playing with snow!
Today we had our morning circle time, with our calendar routine, songs and a nice story about how Caterpillars turn into butterflies.
After that students made a collage using tissue paper and lots of glue!
In Language Arts we completed a couple of worksheets where students had to circle the pictures that end with the following consonant sounds: t/g/d/n
After that students completed a couple of Math worksheets where they had to circle the correct number of objects.
We also played some patterning games.
After lunch students listened to an audio story tittled: Curious George's Dinosaur Discovery.
Students wrote in their journals using the Picture Dictionary book.
After recess we had different centers in class and students had the opportunity to explore a variety of sensory activities.

Today we began the day with an assembly in the gym. Students played a house game and unfortunately KIP didn't win:(
When students came to our classroom we had our morning circle time and Ethan was the special helper for the day.
Today we finished our bear booklet and practice letter sounds for A/B/C/D/E/F/G/H/I/J/K/L/M/N/O/P/R/S/T/U/V
After that we had our Show & Tell, and I must say it was very successful!
Everyone enjoyed eating the vegetables!
In Math students created patterns using beads and pipe cleaner.
Students participated in reading groups and practiced our love song.
To finish off our day and because today is 100th day of school, students counted smarties 10 by 10s and had fun eating them afterwards!

Today we started off our day with morning circle time and snacks.
After that we reviewed short vowel sound and completed several worksheets.
Students attended Phys. Ed. class in the morning and when they came back to class we read a nice story of a bear tittled: "Don't Worry Douglas" by David Melling.
This week in our unit of inquiry, we are learning about bears. Today students used chocolate pudding to paint a bear. We also learned that bears eat berries, nuts and insects.
In the afternoon we played some games and practiced our song on stage! Everyone did really well today!

This week students are learning name, sound and formation of letter V. Today students learned a little bit more about our animal friend Vicky Vulture.
After singing our phonics song students completed a couple of worksheets and did some cutting and pasting of a vase. This week we are also focusing on vowels. Students are learning that short vowels tell their sounds like in pig, jet or sun. And long vowels tell their name like in acorn, tile or vase.
In our math unit on patterns students used different counters to create their own pattern.
In the afternoon students attended Phys. Ed., Music and French classes.
After recess we played games and had our end of the day circle time.

Today we began our day with our morning routine and snacks.
This week students are learning about letter Vv. Today students made a vegetable collage by cutting pictures from grocery store fliers.
After that we practice formation of letter V. Our animals friend this week is Vicky Vulture.
Today we started a new unit on Math about patterning.
These are the key learning goals
for this unit:
•Recognize and copy simple patterns,including those that involve position, colour, size, and shape
• Describe a simple pattern
• Copy simple patterns using concrete materials
• Create, copy, and extend simple patterns using a variety of materials and actions
• Show the same pattern in different ways
To start off our new unit we went on a pattern walk. Students tried to find patterns around our classroom and school.

Today we began our day with our morning circle time and snacks.

After that we learned about Jellyfish and we found out some very interesting information:

- Jellyfish live in ocean all over the world.

- Jellyfish can be purple, pink, orange and other colors.

- Most jellyfish are shaped like open umbrella.

- Their bodies are smooth and squishy.

- Jellyfish do not have eyes, a brain, a heart or bones.

- A jellyfish spreads out its tentacles to search for food.

- Jellyfish eat shrimp, young crabs, lobsters and fish.

After reading a couple of books related to our subject, we talked about how salty water makes things float. To help students to understand we cracked 2 eggs, one in salty water (like the seawater) and the other one in regular tap water. The egg in the salty water floated and the one in regular water sank. We used our imagination and pretended the egg was a jellyfish, students could observe how jellyfish float in the ocean.

Students made a nice craft of a jellyfish.

In our language arts we are learning letter Kk, today students practiced our phonics song for letter K. And our animal friend is Kathy Kangaroo. Students completed a worksheet to practice formation of letter K.

After that we head out to the gym to have a Kangaroo race!

Everyone was in need of some physical activity by that point!

We came back to our classroom and had some time to play a math game, using animals counters.

After lunch and recess students participated in reading group and attended Music and French classes.

To finish off our day students wrote in their journals and played with playdough.

Today we had another busy day!
We began the day with our morning circle time and snacks.
After that students colored a nice ocean picture and decorated with sand. Students attended Gym class.
After that everyone participated in reading groups and completed a couple of Math worksheets.
In the afternoon students wrote in their journals and attended French class.
To finish off our day we talked about one of the IB learner profiles: communicator. To help students understand this attribute we played a game where I would call a student outside of the classroom, give him/her a message the student had to find a way to communicate the message to his classmates with no words.
After that we practiced our love song for the gala.

We began our day with our morning circle time and snacks.

After that we spent some time reviewing vowels and from now on students will be learning long vowel sounds in words like: acorn, eagle, ice cream, oatmeal, uniform.

Students participated in reading groups and in silent reading, as you can see in the pictures.

In our Math unit students practiced counting and tracing numbers.

In our unit of inquiry we saw pictures of ocean creatures and read the book "When Fish Are Mean" by Lisa Galjanic.

What a busy day!
Today we started off our day with our calendar routine, Mr. R. read a nice story about kindness and students had their snacks.
In language arts students practiced formation of letter J and completed a worksheet where they had to match pictures to the letter with which it begins. After that we sang our phonics song and had readiang groups.
In math students estimated and counted to identify sets with more, fewer or the same
number of objects.

In our unity of inquiry we watched a short video about safari animals, after that we had our circle time discussions. I asked students what they know about safari animals, you can read the answers in the picture above.

Students had lunch and went for outdoor recess.

In the afternoon I set up different stations in the classroom in order for students explore a variety of sensory activities.

After that students attended Music and French classes.

To finish off our day we practiced our love song for the gala dinner. I must say...we have good singers in our class!

Today we started our day with some house games and I am glad to announce that KIP is in first place!

When students came in class we had our morning circle time, snacks and journal writing.

After that students played with some Math games and completed a language worksheet.

Today we had our Show & Tell, I must say, students did really well!

It is nice to see the progress of each student at his/her own pace.

In the afternoon we practice our song for the gala dinner (tickets went home today).

To finish off our day we prepared a delicious fruit salad, students helped me by cutting the fruits. I always like to involve food in their learning, as food is part of our everyday lives and we can relate to so many aspects of learning. Today while they were cutting the fruits I instructed students to cut the grapes in half, strawberries and bananas in quarters. Another skill practiced was following instruction, as students had to follow the recipe step by step.

Today we had our morning circle time, snacks and our phonics song.
After that students practiced 1:1 correspondence by using fish cracker snacks.
Learning and understanding the one-to-one correspondence of object to object is necessary before students can carry out meaningful counting and higher calculations.
In our unit of inquiry we learned about sheep and what are the basic needs of a sheep.
Students completed a couple of worksheets and wrote in their journals.
In the afternoon students attended French and Music classes and we practiced our song for the gala dinner coming up on February 11th.
To finish off our day we played a game called musical letters, where students had to go around the circle and when the song paused they had to find a seat with a letter on it. In order to play the next round students had to name and make the sound of the letter. Of course Mrs. Padovan and Mr. R. helped those who had a little difficult.

We started our day with our calendar routine and nice story read by Mr. R. After that, students had their snacks and practiced their fine motor skills by cutting pictures of farm animals along on the lines.
Students attended Phys. Ed. in the morning and when they returned to class we sang our animals friend song for letter F. Students then made a Fox craft to help them to remember that F says "fff" for Fox.
In our math unit we are still working on our number book where students are learning to represent numbers in different ways.
For our unit of inquiry we are working on a farm booklet.
To finish our day students played with playdough and participated in our end of the day circle time.

I am pretty sure JK students are going home today talking about chocolate pudding!
Yes, Mrs. Padovan let them lick their fingers after they were done with their art. I usually support and encourage healthy eating, but today was an exception. I'll compensate on Friday by preparing a delicious and nutritious Fruit salad with students help!
In the morning students work on a craft where they made a pretend fire using tissue paper and construction paper.
After that they completed a tracing worksheet and had our reading groups.
For our Math unit students have been exploring a variety of physical representations of numbers.
In our Unit of Inquiry we talked more about farm animals and we gather information on what students already know about these animals.

This week students are going to learn name, sound and formation for letter F.

Today they were introduced to our new animal friend Freddy Fish.

Students completed a couple of worksheets and decorated a fish.

Students also colored and cut a booklet about letter F.
After that we played a Math game and worked on our number book.

In our unit of inquiry we are learning about farm animals this week.

In the afternoon, students attended Phys. Ed. and French classes.

Today students were so excited!!!
Snow is finally here!
Please send in your child's snowpants. If your child doesn't have snowpants in school I'll keep him/her in my class.
Today we watched a video about animals and had fun in our Art class!
Students participated in reading groups and worked on printing letter R.
We played some Math games in the afternoon and students attended French class.

Today we had another busy day!
After our morning circle time and snack we played a matching game, where students had to match lower case and upper case letters. We then spent some time practicing sound of letters H/R/C. Students completed a couple of worksheets and participated in our reading groups.
For Math we completed a cute caterpillar 1-10. Everyday we will add a number to our caterpillar.
After that we wrote in the journals by using the Alphabet Center.
In the afternoon students attended Music and French classes.
To finish our day we practiced our song for February the 11th and played with blocks.

Today we started the day with our morning circle time and a nice craft using uncooked rice, just to help students to remember the sound of R.
After that students had Phys. Ed.
When they came back, we talked a little bit more about frogs and sang some frog songs.
In the afternoon students practiced writing letter R and we played a game called the "Mystery Bag" to help us to identify words that begin with R.
To finish our day students wrote in their journals and we played "Musical Letters".
Please note, there is Parent Guild meeting today at 7pm.

Today our day was very productive!
We had our morning circle time with Mr. R. after that we work on a snowflake matching activity.
For Language Arts we are continuing practicing name, sound and formation for letter R. After completing some worksheets, students were introduced to our "Alphabet Center". Students will be using the Alphabet Center to assist them on Journal Writing.
For Math students matched objects using 1:1 correspondence and we started to work on a number book, where students are exploring a variety of physical representations of numbers.
In the afternoon students attended Music and French classes.
To finish our day we played a Bingo game.

Today we started our day with our circle time routine, Mr. R. read a very nice story and we jumped to language arts.
This week students are learning name, sound and formation for letter R and our animal friend is Rusty Rooster. Students learned that R says "rrrr" for Rainbow and to help them to remember that we glued strips of colorful paper on letter R.
After that students traced letter R and identified words that begins with R, such as rug, ring, roller skate, ruler and roller coaster.
We also played a game called Roller Coaster, students really enjoyed!
For our unit of inquiry we finished decorating our frogs.
In Math students classified and counted the number of objects in a set by using pet counters.
In the afternoon students attended Phys. Ed. and French classes.
To finish our day students wrote in their Journals and played a variety of sensory games.

Today we started our day with our calendar routine and a nice story read by Mr. R.
After that students exercised their fine motor skills by gluing dots on letter D.
We then practiced phonics for letters S/T/U and had our reading groups.
Students enjoyed challenging themselves on a "Frog Race". I must say, we have pretty good hoppers in our class!
In the afternoon we painted a frog and played games.

Today we had a busy day!
After our morning circle time and snack, we spent some time on phonics. We reviewed the sounds for the following letters: A/B/D/E/G/H/I/L/M/N/O
Students also practiced formation of letter D. We then had our reading groups.
For Math we went on a number walk around the classroom. After that we shared and wrote on a chart all the places that we could find numbers.
In our unity of inquiry we are learning about Amphibians this week. Today we learned about the life cycle of a frog. We saw different colors of frogs and sang a couple of frogs songs.
At the end of the day we celebrated Michael's birthday and played a variety of sensory games.

Dear Parents,
In order to encourage students to have positive behavior in school, we have in our class a stamp chart. Every morning students start the day getting the first stamp on their chart, at lunch time they may get a second stamp and at the end of the day they may get the last stamp. In total students may get 3 stamps a day. Once student complete their stamp chart, he/she may chose a prize!

The letter for this week is D and our animal friend is Dexter Donkey, students will be learning name, sound and formation for letter D.
In Math we are starting a new unit on Numbers and Applications. We will be focusing on the following:
• Recognize and write numbers to 10
• Explore a variety of ways to represent numbers
• Demonstrate an awareness of addition and subtraction in everyday activities
• Sort, classify, and count the number of objects in a set
• Estimate, count, and compare sets
• Count orally to 30
For our Unit of Inquiry we starting a new transdisciplinary theme titled: Sharing the Planet.
Our central idea is: "We must respect and care for animals in our environment"

Today students learned how to use the picture dictionary.

I would tell them to open on certain page number and look for certain picture or word on that page. We will be using the picture dictionary more often in class for activities such as journal writing.

Today we started off our day with a full dress rehearsal for our Christmas Concert.

Students came back to class, completed a couple of language worksheets and participated in our reading groups.

- Please arrive at the school at 6:30pm, students must wear pajamas.
- Bring your child to the classroom.
- JK’s are not participating in the first part of the play; students will be sitting at the back of the auditorium under my supervision. Please refrain from talking to your child at that period of time, as some kids react differently when have parents around and they may lose their focus.
- Once their performance is over, they must sit with you.

- Tomorrow is parent teacher interview, please find your scheduled time in your child's agenda.

- On Thursday, Dec. 15 we are giving parents the option to have an earlier pick up time.
Students will have the dress rehearsal until 1:50pm. If you wish you may pick up your child after that.
